Based on a satirical book and Twitter account, “An Act of God” is a 90- minute conversation in which God (assisted by His devoted angels) will reveal the mysteries of the Bible and answer some of the greatest existential questions that have plagued mankind since creation. 5th Annual Kiawah Island Golf Resort Triathlon ~ 09/17/2017
Currently the only intermediate distance triathlon in the Charleston area to feature an ocean swim, this race features a .7-mile swim, 25.1-mile bike and 6.1-mile run.
The competition kicks off with the .7-mile point-to-point swim in the vast, beautiful and calm Atlantic waters off Kiawah’s stunning coastline. The bike and run portions of the race take athletes along the scenic marshland, maritime forest and beachfront, allowing participants to capture the unique essence of Kiawah Island. Transition area will take place in Night Heron Park, a 21-acre spectator and family friendly park at the heart of Kiawah Island.

Cast Off Fishing Tournaments ~ Mt. Pleasant Fishing Pier ~ 09/02/2017
The Mt. Pleasant Fishing Pier is one of the best destinations in the Lowcountry for Pier fishing. This breathtaking landmark stretches out into Charleston Harbor and offers spectacular views, fishing, dining, tournaments, special events, and more throughout the year! Online registration ends the Thursday before each Tournament. Onsite registration is available at 6am on the morning of each event. Tournaments end at 2pm and prizes are awarded at 2:15pm. Tournaments are held rain or shine. Adult chaperones require for those 15 and under. $8 for ages 3-12 and Seniors 60+. $13 for ages 13 & up.

Time for Shaggin’ on the Pier ~ Yes! Dust off those Dancin’ Shoes! Live music of all varieties will fill the air with local bands. Music by the Coppertones. All ages are invited to let loose, breathe in the ocean breeze and dance the night away under the stars. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Scottish Games & Highland Gathering ~ Boone Hall Plantation ~ 09/16/2017
The 46th Scottish Games and Highland Gathering, featured each September at Boone Hall Plantation, is another one of the special events held at the plantation that makes Boone Hall one of the most unique venues in the Charleston, SC Lowcountry. It features a day packed full of various activities and events that has something for everyone – Scottish style. Whether you're looking to experience Olympic type competition of the heavy athletics sporting events or the mastery of Scottish music, the Scottish Games and Highland Gathering will offer all you're looking for and so much more. The music featured at this annual gathering of Scottish family clans, is a truly unique experience. The music of over 25 bagpipe bands echoes through the plantation’s large oaks and across scenic marshes with sounds that are truly classical Scottish fare. There is Highland Dancing that dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries, Scottish Country Dancing & Fiddling, and Celtic rock bands dressed in kilts.

The Border Collie Demo features some of the most beautiful dogs in the world. The Border Collie was developed in the Border Country of Scotland, an area long known for its sheep industry. In fact, it has been said that without the Border Collie, there would be no sheep industry. Today, this breed of dog is known the world over for its intelligence and livestock-working ability.

There are Children’s games, loosely fashioned after the Heavy Athletics, and much more.
The visual experience of this event promises to leave an impression that will be long remembered. Last year, over 6,000 people from all over the world attended these games, put on for charity that benefits the Scottish Society Of Charleston.

5th Annual Chucktown Showdown ~ 09/16/2017
Time to Get out On the Water! Get ready to paddle around the famous Charleston Battery and other historical sites of the Harbor! The 5th Annual Chucktown Showdown benefiting Surfers Healing (Folly Beach) will take place on September 16, 2017. The races are open to Stand-Up Paddleboards, Prones, Outrigger Canoes and Surfskis. The event features 3 Races: The Harbor Course (9.0 Miles),The Battery Course (4 miles), The Kids SUP Race (1 mile). Cash prizes awarded for the top SUP finishers of the 9-mile course!
